If you want to protect an invention against the operation and use of a third party, you must present the request before the Colombian Office of Industry and Commerce - Division of New Creations, so that the corresponding patent is granted.

When a patent is granted it gives you the right of prohibiting the use of the invention from a third party without the consent of the owner

The patent is granted by a term of twenty (20) years, starting from the date of presentation.
